As part of a co-production between Casa das Artes / Teatro Narciso Ferreira and the Vila Nova de Famalicão municipality's educational and cultural project "From Famalicão to the World", the play "Ulysses" by Maria Alberta Menéres, by Agon & Momento - Artistas Independentes, will be presented to all 6th grade students in the 2nd cycle of basic education in Vila Nova de Famalicão, with a session for the general public. This project is part of a strategy to mediate audiences with the local school community as a way of bringing them closer to the National Reading Plan.
"It is said that, in those days of yore, there was no man who suffered more and was happier than the amazing Ulysses." First told by Homer, then by Maria Alberta Menéres and now by us. This classic epic is full of adventures, Cyclops, mermaids, sorceresses and other obstacles that keep Ulysses from his Penelope. A love that has to survive several years of mystery and doubt, but also of resistance and faith. With original music and a dynamic staging, we retell the thousand-told story of the king of Ithaca in a fresh and innovative way, appealing to the youngest and restoring curiosity for the mythical, for antiquity and, in a way, for history.
