A film that reconstitutes the adventure of a group of speleologists from the Piedmont region (Italy) who, in 1961, headed south and discovered, in the Pollino massif in Calabria, one of the deepest caves in the world. Around 700 metres deep, this cave became known as the Bifurcated Abyss. Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival, "The Hole" is directed by the Italian Michelangelo Frammartino ("Il Dono", "The Four Times").
