Prometheus, one of the greatest heroes of the classical mythological cosmos, symbol of human emancipation from the divine, tells us about the inevitable misfortunes that befall those who act with conscience. Faced with the possible destruction of humanity at the hands of a tyrannical Zeus, Prometheus steals fire from the gods and gives it to mortals, teaching them the arts that would lay the foundations for civilisation. As punishment for his daring, he is imprisoned on a rock to suffer eternity, a living example of divine retribution. As with all myths, the echoes of this story still reverberate today, finding in them new ways of questioning, understanding and navigating the world. Refusing to moralise, by immersing ourselves in Aeschylus' words we aim to find clues to scalp our contemporaneity. Who are our Prometheans? What fires do they steal and from whom? What tyrannies are they rebelling against, inciting us to rebellion too? And what rocks do we see them bound to? Is there still room for Prometheus? For radical, unbreakable, insubmissive consciences?
