Twenty years ago, Gracie Atherton-Yoo, then 36, found herself embroiled in a huge scandal when her love affair with Joe, aged just 13, was made public. Today, after she has served her prison sentence and all the difficulties have been overcome, the two lead a quiet life in Georgia with their twin sons. However, everything changes with the arrival of Elizabeth, an actress involved in the production of a film about the case, who wants to get to know them more closely and study her role as Gracie. Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, "May December" was directed by Todd Haynes. The screenplay, written by Samy Burch and Alex Mechanik, is inspired by the story of American Mary Kay Letourneau (1962-2020), a married teacher and mother of four who, in 1996, became involved with Vili Fualaau, a 12-year-old pupil of hers, whom she got pregnant and married years later. The cast includes Natalie Portman, Charles Melton and Julianne Moore, in their fifth collaboration with Todd Haynes, after Safe (1995), Far from Heaven (2002), I'm Not There (2007) and Wonderstruck (2017).
