The Mayor of Famalicão claimed the need for more and better accessibility to support the large export capacity of the industrial fabric of the county and the region and pointed as an example the need for a new connection to the municipality of Santo Tirso, to replace the existing bridge crossing of Lagoncinha.
Mário Passos was speaking yesterday at the iTechStyle Summit, International Textile and Clothing Conference that gathers a set of sector players, academics, researchers, clusters and agents related to Textile and Clothing from all over the world at the Terminal of Leixões Port.
Taking advantage of the presence of the Secretary of State for the Economy, João Neves, Mário Passos recalled that "the contribution of Famalicão for the national trade balance registers a surplus of more than 1000 million euros and we have the conviction that with better accessibilities our companies would be able to create even more wealth for the country" giving as an example "the small crossing over the river Ave in Lousado of connection to the municipality of Santo Tirso, which is strangled in the Roman bridge of Lagoncinha".
The mayor of Famalicão left the challenge to the Government to "at the beginning of this mandate look to this territory, which with its companies, wants to develop, to be competitive, in the certainty that with the investment Portugal will win".
Mário Passos assured João Neves that "he will find in the City Hall of Famalicão a partner always available to help develop the right public policies adjusted to the needs of the territory".
