On International Women's Day, the National Railway Museum - Lousado Centre pays tribute to a dying profession - that of level crossing guard. The programme includes the presentation of Carlos Cipriano's book on the subject, followed by an open discussion in which the author discusses the work of these women on the railway, sometimes in remote and inhospitable places, whose mission is to ensure that trains pass safely through road crossings. The session begins and ends with a cultural moment.
