'The Social Question in the Dictatorship (1926-1974)' is the theme of this year's edition of the Bernardino Machado Museum's Cycle of Conferences. According to the Museum's Scientific Coordinator, this year's theme is inspired by the "current acceleration of social inequalities, the rise in the cost of subsistence and the lack of the most basic necessities for an ever-increasing number of citizens", fuelled by the "unexpected acuteness of the war between Ukraine and Russia and its calamitous and painful international consequences, especially in terms of migration and global food shortages".
