Oppressive regimes forced the internment of women in asylums. Thought to be insane for defying norms, they were imprisoned, tortured, forgotten. Thousands died. Starting from these real lives, Anonymous is not a woman’s name rescues silenced stories and confronts us with remnants of a time not far away. In the hospice of Santa Teresa, two hospitalized women struggle with their pains, doubts and dreams in shards. A worker witnesses the unthinkable and questions her role. A mother waits. A doctor reduces patients to numbers. A mayor watches over the oiled "machine" of the regime. In that dehumanized place, however, hope arises: can goodness overcome oppression? As these lives become entangled, another woman narrates her story. Love and violence, madness and truth, fame and loneliness, violence and feminism. History so close, dangerously close. Inside us.
