The Portuguese actress Maria João Bastos will be honoured at the final gala of Ymotion - Famalicão Young Film Festival, which will take place next Saturday, 13 November, at 9.30 p.m., in the auditorium of Centro de Estudos Camilianos, in S. Miguel de Seide. The ceremony will also be marked by the tribute to the composers Bernardo Sassetti and Ennio Morricone, by Inês Silva and Pedro Lima, young musicians from Famalicão.
These will be two of the highlights of Ymotion's seventh edition, which started on the 8th and will run until the 13th of November, culminating with a gala where the big winners of the festival will be announced.
The final gala will be attended by the Mayor, Mário Passos, who will close the session.
The film journalist, Maria João Rosa, will be the hostess of the ceremony that will also count with the presence of Rui Tendinha, journalist and film critic and festival commissioner, the actress Benedita Pereira, the journalist Pedro Oliveira, the actor Ricardo Pereira, the director Leonor Teles, the journalist Tiago Alves, the actress Sónia Balacó, the screenwriter and director Tiago Santos, among others.
It is worth remembering that around 40 short films developed by young directors, between 12 and 35 years old, were in competition at Ymotion, in the categories "Joaquim de Almeida Grand Prize", "High Schools", "Best Documentary", "Best Animated Short", "Best Acting", "Best Screenplay", "Best Cinematography" and "Audience Award".
YMotion is a festival organised by Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality since 2015, which has established itself on the circuit of film shows and festivals in the country, serving as a lever for the work of young filmmakers aged 12 to 35. In the 2020 edition, almost two hundred short films were received in competition and director Filipe Rufatto received the "Joaquim de Almeida Grand Prize" for his film "Sofia" (2019).
