The Gold Rush was for Chaplin the "film he would like to be remembered for". It is one of his greatest comedies and one of the hundred best American films, according to the American Film Institute. In this film, the "Tramp" goes fortune seeking in the Yukon and goes through difficult times, which he transforms, as always, into episodes of humour. Partly filmed in Sierra Nevada, it features some unforgettable sequences, such as the loaf dance and the meal of boiled shoe leather.
