The old problem of the "ownerless road", as the access to the junction of the A7 motorway Vermoim/Seide became known, will be solved in the coming weeks. The intervention for the requalification and renovation of the road, between the access to the motorway and the national road connecting Famalicão to Guimarães (EN 206), is being concluded and, from then on, as per the protocol signed between the City Hall, Ascendi and Infraestruturas de Portugal, the road will become municipal property.
It is an infrastructural road that was built precisely in the sequence of the opening of the motorway, without being formally included in either the national or the municipal road network. Hence the name with which it became known.
The lack of definition and the poor state of the artery led the Municipality to file an injunction in court to force the concessionaire of the A7, or Estradas de Portugal, to carry out urgent repair, lighting and conservation works. In the meantime, the parties reached an understanding which resulted in the agreement to carry out the works, by Infraestruturas de Portugal and Ascendi, with the subsequent transfer of the road to the municipal domain.
The mayor speaks of the resolution of "a major road safety problem” since the road "did not had infrastructure and there was no entity responsible for its maintenance". Mário Passos says that "it was worth the claim that the City Hall made over the last few years, which ensured a solution to the satisfaction of the public interest".
