In 1918, Maria Adelaide Coelho da Cunha, owner of "Diário de Notícias" and daughter of the newspaper's founder, runs away with her former driver, more than two decades younger than herself, and leaves everyone looking for her, in a highly mediatized search. Three weeks later she is found, admitted to the Conde de Ferreira hospice and declared insane and unfit by Júlio de Matos, Egas Moniz and Sobral Cid, which allows her husband to sell the newspaper and hand it over to the powers that be who will establish the dictatorship a few years later. This true story is now the subject of a film by Mário Barroso, with Maria de Medeiros in the role of Maria Adelaide and a script by Carlos Saboga.
