After two years without the big gala in a face-to-face format, the Bgreen - Ecological Film Festival returns in full force to the city of Famalicão, with an international gala on the 9th of June, at 21h30, in the open-air amphitheatre of Devesa Park, where the prizes will be delivered and the winning videos will be shown.
The official presentation of the event happened this morning in the facilities of OFICINA - Professional School of INA, in Santo Tirso, by the voice of the Councillor of Education and Science, Augusto Lima, accompanied by the pedagogical director of OFICINA, Miguel Sá Carneiro.
"It is an important festival for the municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, and I would even say for the whole region", says Augusto Lima. "This festival involves three great important factors: sustainability and the challenges it involves, (...) internationalisation, something that touches us as a municipality open to the world (...) and the technological and audio-visual component, which matches the current practices of our young people", highlights the councillor.
"More than a video festival, Bgreen is fundamentally an educational project that deepens the human dimension around sustainability and ecological logic (...) seeking to develop this sensibility in the youngest layers of students" points out Miguel Sá Carneiro.
In this 11th edition of the festival, the theme explored focuses on the mobilisation of young people for environmental causes and, consequently, for a greater awareness of social justice and global citizenship, and nearly 300 applications from schools all over the world were received. The list of finalists is composed of about 30 videos from Portugal, Spain, Norway, Colombia and Chile, which compete for the awards: "Bgreen // ecological film festival Grand Prize", "Bgreen Junior", "Honourable Mention", "Best Making-of", "Audience Award" and "Alphonse Luisier Award". The grand prize includes an Eco-Adventure trip to the Azores for the winning group of students.
The Bgreen - Ecological Film Festival is a video festival dedicated to themes linked to the environmental cause and ecology, aimed at students with ages between 13 and 21. It is promoted and organised by OFICINA - INA Professional School since 2011 and is supported, among other entities, by the City Hall of Vila Nova de Famalicão. It is an educational project of international scope, with a journey of 12 years, which has already had the participation of 26 countries, 800 schools and about 12,000 students.
