Vila Nova de Famalicão Municipality was once again distinguished with the Exemplary Quality Seal for Water for Human Consumption 2021, in a ceremony that took place in Lisbon, at the end of the 16th Expo Water Conference, attended by the Alderman of the Environment, Hélder Pereira.
The initiative of the Water and Waste Services Regulatory Authority (ERSAR) and the Água & Ambiente newspaper, distinguishes every year the entities with reference performances in the provision of these services.
The exemplary quality of the water that is drunk in Vila Nova de Famalicão was distinguished, with the attribution of the Quality Seal, for the third time.
ERSAR's initiative aims to identify, distinguish and disseminate Portuguese reference cases regarding the provision of public water supply, urban wastewater sanitation and urban waste management services and thus contribute to the improvement of these sectors.
The "Quality Awards and Seals for Water and Waste Services" also aim to highlight the existence of a rigorous system for evaluating the services provided to consumers, who will now know which entities provide the best service in different areas, and to raise awareness of the managing entities to quality issues in the design, implementation, management and operation of the systems.
For the councillor Hélder Pereira, who has recently taken office, "the attribution of this Seal means that the people of Famalicão can trust the quality of the water they drink and use in their homes". On the other hand, "it is a distinction that reveals the excellence of this service rendered to the community".
Note that the supply of public water in Famalicão is ensured by Águas do Norte and the universe of population with public water supply is over 120 thousand people.
