With Christmas just one month away, the City Councill will give to the citizens of Vila Nova de Famalicão a very special gift in another tree adoption campaign, which will take place this Saturday, 20th November, between 15h00 and 17h30, in the Famalicão Municipal Market Square.
In the initiative, that takes place in the scope of the "25 thousand trees for 2025" project, 2. 400 trees and bushes of 14 different species, namely Rosemary - Rosmarinus officinalis; Rosemary - Rosmarinus officinalis prostratus; Lavender - Lavandula angustifolia; Almond tree - Prunus dulcis; Holly - Ilex aquifolium; Lemon tree - Aloysia triphylla; Quince tree - Cydonia oblonga; Strawberry tree - Arbutus unedo; Olive tree - Olea europea; Pear tree - Pyrus communis; Lavender tree - Lavandula stoechas; Thyme - Thymus vulgaris; Lemon thyme - Thymus citriodorus and Heather - Erica cinerea.
The aim is for each person to adopt a tree in a responsible and conscious manner, learning to care for this living being that is so important for the life of our planet. With this initiative, we intend to encourage citizens to plant a tree in their garden or on their balcony, according to their personal tastes, but mainly according to the needs of each plant.
For this, along with the tree, information will be distributed on how to care for the various species, according to their size, type of leaf and sun exposure.
The campaign is part of the celebrations of the Day of the Autochthonous Forest, which takes place on 23 November.
