Vila Nova de Famalicão will attend the Portugal Smart Cities Summit to be held between 16 and 18 November at FIL - Parque das Nações. The county of Famalicão will share its experience with municipalities, national and international public and private entities, higher and secondary education institutions, academic and scientific education, companies and technology startups, with the development of the B- Smart project, an urban intelligence platform that aggregates the municipality's smart management tools.
Materialising in a Smart City Control Centre, this platform processes, analyses and cross-references diverse information about the territory’s daily life, helping the efficiency of public space management. Associated to this operations centre is a mobile application developed to bring citizens closer to the municipality and facilitate access to municipal services. The tool is available on Google Play and App Store under the name Famalicão Your Place. These two resources are a central element of the Municipality's plan to become increasingly efficient in the management of the territory and of the services provided to citizens.
Portugal Smart Cities Summit is the physical marketplace for creating opportunities between companies, universities, associations, startups and city councils, with common goal of discussing the future of smart cities and improving the lives of citizens. There is a strong focus on knowledge transfer and innovation dynamics in the relationship between the academic and scientific world with the companies and society in general.
"Our presence on this stage signifies our commitment to building a smart and efficient territory and, consequently, our openness to knowledge and sharing of experiences", says the Mayor, Mário Passos.
