Famalicão received, this Thursday, another "Most Family-Responsible Municipality" flag. The distinction, awarded by the Observatory of the Most Family-Responsible Municipalities, happens for the tenth time, the ninth consecutive, and once again recognizes the good practices of support to families promoted by the municipality of Famalicão.
The flag ceremony took place in the FEFAL Foundation Auditorium, in Coimbra, in a ceremony in which the municipality was represented by the town councillor for the Family, Sofia Fernandes, who was "very proud of the distinction", praising the impact and importance of municipal policies in the daily lives of families in Famalicão.
It should be noted that, from education to the social area, from sports to culture, there were many arguments listed in the candidacy presented by the local authority, recognised not only for its policies oriented to all families in the municipality, but also for the actions and initiatives aimed at economically and socially disadvantaged families.
Besides recognising the good practices of support to families promoted in recent years by the municipality, the distinction also highlights this time the exceptional social policies adopted by the Famalicão municipality as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It should be recalled that the Observatory of Family Responsible Municipalities is an initiative of the Portuguese Association of Large Families, in partnership with the Social Security Institute, with the main goals of monitoring, awarding and disseminating the best practices of Portuguese municipalities in terms of family responsibility.
