“We defend a stable fiscal policy, socially sensitive but which does not compromise the future of the county.” The Mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, assumes a line of continuity with the management of the previous Municipal Executive in matters of tax policy and will present at this week's City Council meeting a tax package for next year without surprises for the famalicenses. Stability and predictability continue to be the watchwords emanating from the City Council.
Therefore, the Municipal Property Tax will remain fixed at 0.35% in Famalicão but families with one, two, three or more dependents will benefit from a fixed deduction of 20, 40 and 70 euros, respectively.
As for the municipal surcharge, a tax levied on company profits, Famalicão will continue with a rate of 1.2% on company profits, but only for those whose turnover is greater than 250 thousand euros. All the others will be exempt from paying the municipal surcharge, in a net support from the municipality to small and medium-sized enterprises in Famalicão.
As for the IRS rate, Mário Passos proposes to maintain the rate at 4.5%, the same that had been set exceptionally for the pandemic year and that the Mayor will keep given the current national situation.
“In recent years, Famalicenses have become accustomed to a socially sensitive City Council, but at the same time balanced in terms of public accounts. This equation is also a reflection of a responsible and balanced fiscal package that is our commitment to keep in the future", says Mayor Mário Passos, who is in his first year as Mayor, but who integrated the former municipal executives as councillor.
