Yusuke Kafuku (Hidetoshi Nishijima), a Japanese actor and director, arrives in Hiroshima to stage Anton Chekhov's play "Uncle Vanya". As his driver, he is introduced to Misaki Watari (Tôko Miura), a young woman with whom he quickly bonds. While travelling alongside her, Yusuke shares memories of his past with Oto (Reika Kirishima), his life and work companion who died some time ago. Selected for competition at the Cannes Film Festival, where it received the Best Screenplay Award, the FIPRESCI Award and the Ecumenical Jury Award, this film by Ryusuke Hamaguchi is inspired by the short story of the same name included in the work "Men without Women", written by Haruki Murakami. "Drive My Car" won the Golden Globe for best foreign film and is nominated for four Oscars: best film and international film (Japan), directing and adapted screenplay.
