Applications are open for the Alberto Sampaio History Prize

The application period for another edition of the Alberto Sampaio Prize is already open. The purpose of this prize is to honour and to keep alive the person and the work of the historian Alberto Sampaio, promoting the development of scientific studies and research in the areas related to his legacy, especially in the disciplines of Social and Economic History.
The competing works must be sent to the Lisbon Academy of Sciences until May 31st, and may result from or be based upon academic works, namely MA dissertations or PhD thesis, as long as they respect the Regulation. The regulations of the Prize can be consulted here.
The prize, with a monetary value of 6 thousand euros, is attributed annually by a jury, composed of academics from Portuguese universities appointed by the Lisbon Academy of Sciences.
It should be noted that the Alberto Sampaio History Prize is a joint institution of the Municipalities of Braga, Guimarães and Vila Nova de Famalicão and the Martins Sarmento Society, being the Lisbon Academy of Sciences responsible for the organisation and scientific direction of the prize.
